M&Y are part of the T.E.A.M!

Gas engineers from St Helens-based business M&Y have raised hundreds of pounds to support a charity that aims to send disabled children and their families on holiday.

M&Y is the repairs and maintenance arm of North West housing group Regenda, and supports local charities, schools and organisations in a variety of ways.

The latest donation – raised by the team at the M&Y depot in Sutton – will be going towards T.E.A.M – Together Everyone Achieves More.

T.E.A.M, based in Merseyside, is currently fundraising to purchase a holiday home in the beautiful Ribby Hall Village in Lancashire. The lodge would provide a purpose-built holiday haven for disabled children and disadvantaged youngsters from around the region.

Kieran Owens, chairman of T.E.A.M, said: "We support brave, wonderful children with life-threatening illness, many of whom face constant battles to survive. The lives of these children and their families are based around constant hospital routines, doctors and gruelling treatments. We think it is important to bring a sparkle into their lives so they can forget about the usual routines and get away to enjoy wonderful breaks in the country - somewhere they can escape and spend quality time together as a family. We are absolutely delighted with this donation from M&Y, as it brings us one step closer to making ‘T.E.A.M Towers’ a reality.”

Gill Kelly, Director of M&Y, said: “We were thrilled to be able to present Kieran with £500 to support the wonderful work that T.E.A.M does – they work tirelessly to improve the lives of those they support and we are only too happy to help. Everyone at M&Y is always looking for ways to give back to the community.”

The £500 was raised by M&Y engineers by collecting scrap copper, and follows a donation to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity earlier this year. The staff collect the scraps as they work, paying close attention to what they use and what they can save, and later use it to raise cash for good causes.
